Hi,
6 of us travelled to the ricoh on saturday for the boro match. Looking on google maps before the game it appeared the ground is in the middle of nowwhere. Having searched online for near pubs etc for away fans it looked like there wasnt really an existing beaten path.
We got the train from teesside that got us into coventry about 12:30, already well oiled from the train journey we hopped into a taxi at the train station the taxi driver recommeded we take the short trip (4 quid) to the SPON GATE pub http://footballaway.co.uk/uk/away-friendly-pubs/spon-gate. A nice big pub with plenty of seating. We bumped into some other boro fans and about 30 of us used the seating at the back. As this pub is a wetherspoons it was cheap enough and did food.
We left there at 2:30 and despite the match day traffic got to the ground 5 mins later at a cost of about 6 quid.
Ricoh is a nice enough ground with plenty of staff on kiosks so getting served before and half time was easy enough.
Coming out of the ground is a bit of a free for all but i would recommend walking towards the tesco that you can see opposite the ground, just before you reach it there are a few double deckers parked up. For four quid they drop off at the bus station, then the train station.
Back to the train station in plenty of time, only problem is the lack of off licences near the train station for the journey home but there is a small shop in the train station but selling stella only for 3 quid a can.
All in all a good day out!
