The young talent arrived on the Home Park pitch to the biggest crowd that they had ever experienced, home or away, all season, and just after the 25 minute mark, Matt Lecointe looked to have been threaded in by Conor Hourihane only to be pulled down by visiting defender Hussey: Penalty – Goal! In the first half stoppage time, Lecointe’s toe poke found Soukouna, for Argyle’s second goal, and Matt Lecointe’s second “assist”, in his second senior start!

The week after

… was Carl Fletcher, the Argyle caretaker manager at the time, forced to start with they young Lecointe again because of injuries. It took only twenty minutes before the striker scored his first goal his first ever senior level! After the match Matt Lecointe told FootballAway: “It was the happiest moment of my life! As soon as I scored – I froze. I didn’t know what to do so I sort of jogged over towards the fans and by that time all the other players were around me and I was in complete shock!”
